A Place To Simply Be
Inspiration in Your Garden

Inspiration in Your Garden

Think about the colour combinations when creating a garden, as well as considering the shape and sculptural elements.  Does it flow?  It may be the leaves rather than the flowers that are the main feature of the plant. These plants are valuable in your garden for all year round interest.  Is there a point of focus somewhere in your garden at any time of the year?   Do the plants compliment the style and colour of your house?  The right plant in the right place can disguise or enhance a wall.          Does your garden make you smile?

Lazy Cats; Jungle Fish; Quince and Kim Soo

From the industrial bohemian cafe called Lazy Cats in Ubud, to the delicious ceramics and great coffee/food at Quince in Canggu, the eclectic and stylish resort of Jungle Fish overlooking Osh River Valley, and the ambient homewares shop called Kim Soo Home.  I couldn’t resist sharing inspiration from some of the clever designers in Bali.

Credit to Lazy Cats Cafe – designed by Architect Alexis Dornier.  Jungle Fish Resort – designed by Furniture Designer/Owner, Niki Nasr, and Architect Rob Sample.  Quince – Owners/Creatives: Michele and Armen.  Kim Soo – Kim and Giorgia.

Love your work.

Replenish Renewel Refresh

Replenish Renewel Refresh

Bring the inside out and the outside in – it is time for spring – replenish, renewal and refresh. New fabric from JAB and Salvador, Katie Stratton’s wallpaper, velvet cushions from Mulberi Home, and my favourite Balinese sculpture from JillyJamPots are a few ways to connect our interiors to the outside with a visual flow.

Thoughts of the Day

Drink good coffee made with love!  Have several favourite cafes – many if you are lucky.

Know the rules, then you can break them.     There are no rules!   Make up your own rules…. then break those.

See colour … really see colour.

Learn, learn and then learn some more.

Every day, smile…. find someone who makes you smile, find something that makes you smile

Do something that makes you smile – smile on the inside – smile at a stranger – fake it and just smile…. soon you will be smiling at yourself. (or laughing at yourself)

Go to exhibitions.  If you just don’t get it….talk to the artist…. see it through someone else’s eyes … go back on another day… you will see the art from a whole new perspective.

See life through someone else’s eyes.

Take the dog for a walk…. take someones dog for a walk.

Grumpy? – eat chocolate (dark),  savour the moment – then smile.

Remember to breathe – breathe deeply and slowly when you are sitting at the traffic lights.

Never say never.
